If you remember, Alex Shoumatoff set out last year to help his Harvard roommate Jock Hooper do a smear job on the Bohemian Club, which is a kind of resort home for many San Francisco luminaries, and not all of them male. Hooper was someone described as a “disgruntled former member” of the exclusive gentlemen’s club that is favored by the business elite, former presidents, international leaders, and men who enjoy music, wine and song, and ok, I know at least two women who’ve recently been there (with their boyfriends). The club’s lightened up a lot over the years.

San Francisco Adult Entertainment: Middle school rape suspect pleads not guilty

Judge Diana Becton Smith said a gag order prevents the Contra Costa County District Attorney and Public Defender’s Office — which is representing the boy — from discussing the case with the media.
Police said at least two students happened upon the attack. One student alerted an adult, while another physically interceded. Neither police nor school officials gave a reason for why the students weren’t in class at the time. The girl had previously complained to school officials that the boy sexually harassed her, according to police.
The West Contra Costa school district officials placed Portola Principal Denise Van Hook and Vice Principal Matthew Burnham on paid administrative for four days while they launched their still ongoing investigation into both the incident and campus security.
Students are now required to have an adult escort when they leave class for a restroom break or other business. The school had already hired a

SAN FRANCISCO
— The always-inviting live theater scene in San Francisco begins the new decade with plentiful world premieres — some offerings are adaptations of classics, while others are brand-new tales:
Sharon Gless
The co-star of TV’s “Cagney & Lacey” leads the cast of Jane Prowse’s “A Round-Heeled Woman” based on the best-selling memoir by Jane Juska. It’s a world premiere in the reactivated Theater Artaud. Called both funny and heartbreaking, the story is about encounters resulting from a personals ad in the New York Review of Books, soliciting sex and/or conversations about Trollope.

Saturday, just shy of midnight, and the squat sandwich board on the Mission Street sidewalk bears a wrinkled paper sign advertising street-food ramen. Like a strip club barker, Gil Payne is standing in front of Nombe’s inset double storefront, looking like he’s trying to drum up a little business. He’s a big guy, with the nervous energy of a man anxious to move product. “We got ramen,” he says. “You can have a street-food portion out here for 4 bucks, or sit inside where it’s warm for 8.”

OAKLAND — Two years after serving time in prison for raping a woman, John Parquet struck again in 1994, raping and then strangling a 46-year-old prostitute behind an abandoned house in East Oakland, a prosecutor argued Monday.
Police could not link anyone to the killing.
Eight months later Parquet sexually assaulted a woman he was about to rape when police found the pair in the backyard of an abandoned house.
Parquet was carted off to prison again and continued to pass through the revolving door for various parole violations until 2005, when police and prosecutors, checking DNA on cold cases, found Parquet’s DNA matched that of the DNA found on the body of the prostitute, Lowanda Jackson.
