San Francisco Escorts: Jordan Lorence: The CLS case and the mirage of the “all comers” policy

The university claims that allowing all students to participate in all advocacy groups will not water down their messages, nor lead to hostile takeovers by opposing students.  But this harsh policy drove off campus an evangelical Christian group called the Christian Legal Society.
CLS was formed a half century ago as a fellowship for Christian lawyers and law students.  It requires its members and officers to agree with its Christian statement of faith.  UC-Hastings views this as “religious discrimination,” because CLS would not allow atheists or Buddhists to lead its Bible studies.
CLS also requires its officers to live by certain biblical conduct requirements, such as no stealing and no sex outside of marriage.  UC-Hastings views this as “sexual orientation discrimination” because those who commit adultery, hire a prostitute, marry multiple wives, or engage in homosexual conduct would not be allowed to remain in CLS leadership absent repentance.  CLS learned that Hastings did not require any other student group to accept people who disagreed with its beliefs, so it filed suit.

San Francisco Escorts: Hannity’s evolving standards on the questions a Supreme Court nominee must answer

HANNITY: I guess where I am on this, if you look at Ruth Bader Ginsburg, I mean, she — the Ginsburg rule, she doesn’t have to answer specific questions, clearly pro-choice going in, thinks there may even be a constitutional right to polygamy, has a controversial view we should lower the age of consent to 12, supports legalized prostitution, very left-wing.

HANNITY: You know something? You know, I know you’re not going to admit this, Eleanor, but your party has been cooperated by the hard left. MoveOn.org, Michael Moore, Ted Kennedy, they’re basically all one and the same as far as I see it.But you know something? G. Gordon is right. Ruth Bader Ginsburg didn’t have to answer tough questions on important issues. She invoked the Ginsburg rule. It’s a woman who once supported the idea of legalized prostitution, was open to the idea of a constitutional right towards polygamy, and the Republicans voted for her.Why won’t the Democrats be fair and offer the same standard that they offered her?

Posted: 06/29/2010 05:55:28 PM PDT
An East Bay man received a three-year sentence Tuesday for helping to rob a San Rafael massage parlor .
Douglas Allan Patterson, 33, of Hayward will likely be released from jail soon with credit for time served and good behavior. Patterson was promised a three-year term last month in exchange for his guilty plea and his testimony against the gunman, Joseph Jerome Flowers.
Patterson and Flowers robbed the New Day Health Center on Dec. 31, 2008. Flowers grabbed a spa employee by the hair, forced her outside into a car and kidnapped her to Point Richmond, where she was released.
A jury convicted Flowers last month of burglary, kidnapping and robbery. Flowers, 38, of Oakland faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced July 7 by Judge Paul Haakenson.

Lawrence J. McQuillan: Supreme Court should drop curtain on Anna Nicole Smith legal saga
By: Lawrence J. McQuillan
OpEd ContributorJune 30, 2010
A recent ruling from the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco found that former stripper and Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith was not entitled to any money of her late husband, successful oilman J. Howard Marshall II. This decision could likely be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court later this year. If so, the court should deny review and put an end to this legal saga with more twists and turns than a TV soap opera.
J. Howard died in 1995 at age 90. In 2001, a Texas probate court upheld the intent of Marshall’s estate plans and ruled Smith was not entitled to the fortune she sought. The Houston jury thoroughly examined the merits during a more than five month trial and found overwhelming evidence that Marshall’s meticulously prepared will and trust ensured the estate would go to his son E. Pierce Marshall.

San Francisco Escorts: Big Screen Berkeley: The Killer Inside Me

The knives are out for Michael Winterbottom’s latest film, The Killer Inside Me, which opens this coming Friday July 2 at the Shattuck Cinemas. An adaptation of hardboiled novelist Jim Thompson’s most famous work, Winterbottom’s film stands accused of looking kindly upon violence against women, and (worst of all) suggesting victims may be complicit in the crimes committed against them. If there’s blame to be apportioned, however, assign it to the source material– The Killer Inside Me is extremely faithful to the novel, and there’s nothing here that Thompson didn’t put on paper almost sixty years ago.
Casey Affleck (the Affleck it’s okay to like) stars as Lou Ford, deputy sheriff in a small West Texas town circa the mid-1950s. Lou seems like the straightest of straight arrows, and his ostensibly gentle touch gets him assigned the task of running prostitute Joyce Lakeland (Jessica Alba) out of town. But Lou has a well-concealed mean streak, and when Joyce angrily slaps him after he rejects her advances, he answers in kind. The two swiftly develop a sado-masochistic relationship in which violence and sex are inextricably intertwined.

San Francisco Escorts: San Carlos to start talking contracted police service

Details of the sheriff’s proposal — including specific service levels and what would happen to current police employees — need to be worked out in negotiations.
Police Officers Association President Gil Granado said the union plans to keep pursuing a ballot initiative that would require voter approval before contracting for police service and reinstate the department if it is outsourced before the measure passes.
Grocott said he has concerns that the sheriff was elected uncontested last month, “even though the gentlemen in the position has a bit of a history. I don’t care to put my police officers under that kind of leadership.”
Grocott was alluding to a 2007 incident in which Munks and Undersheriff Carlos Bolanos were caught in a police raid on an illegal Las Vegas brothel; neither lawman was ever charged with a crime and Munks denied they broke any laws.

San Francisco Escorts: U.S. v. RICHARDS

During the sentencing hearing that followed the district court’s acceptance of the “C” agreement, former Nye County Commissioner, Candice Trummell, over the objection of counsel for the defendant, provided extensive testimony about the conduct of the defendant, including the fact that she had been harassed by his “publishing … harassing, intimidating lies about me and my family. I have been harassed via his newspaper for years since his indictment.” It is without dispute that former Commissioner Trummell had been the subject of the defendant’s efforts to change the zoning laws that would permit the defendant to build and operate a brothel in Nye County. Trummell cooperated with the F.B.I. leading to the indictment and arrest of the defendant. For reasons that are not apparent in the record, the lapse of time from the defendant’s indictment until his plea of guilty was nearly three years, and apparently, it was during this delay that former Commissioner Trummell contended that she had been subjected to newspaper harassment by the defendant.

San Francisco Strip Clubs: Oakland Raiders: No Holdouts, No Arrests, No Drama

When Richard Seymour, as expected, signed his franchise tender, it ended what little drama the Raiders have had this off-season.
It’s funny that a team which is portrayed as rogues, misfits, and bad guys seem to be of pretty high moral character.
No Oakland Raider has had any issues with college girls in bathrooms.
No Oakland Raider has been busted with any kind of pills or controlled substances.
No Oakland Raider, awaiting trial on drug charges, has been thrown back into court to explain why their image was used to promote a party in a club that is notorious for being a drug haven.
No Oakland Raider has threatened to hold out for most of the season.
No Oakland Raider has been involved in any domestic issues.
No Oakland Raider has tried to beat anyone up in a strip club.

San Francisco Escorts: Sigrid ready to Send in the Clowns

… Sigrid has this dynamic quality that comes from another world,” he said. ”If it puts bums on seats, that’s all well and good.”
Director Stuart Maunder said the critical acclaim Thornton won for her performance in Melbourne last year was totally understandable.
Maunder said she ”ticks all those boxes” required to portray Desiree. ”She is moving, funny, beautiful, arch, vulnerable, sophisticated. She’s perfect,” he said. ”I have been in love with her since I saw her in The Man from Snowy River. And, judging by the response to her performance, I know there are thousands out there who feel the same way.”
Thornton has mastered many roles in her stellar, film, television and theatre career, from paddle steamer entrepreneur in All the Rivers Run to prostitute in The Blue Room to small-town magistrate in SeaChange. Most recently, in Underbelly: The Golden Mile, she played her first cop.
