San Francisco Strip Clubs: Roxy’s Gala: pinups, pole dancers, and pitbulls (pictures)

Party Like a Pinup at Roxy’s Gala was organized to support the charity programs, Pinups for Pit Bulls and Pit Stop Bully’s Rescue.  Roxy, the mascot for The Don Vicente De Ybor Historic Inn, inspired the hotel’s owner, Tessa Shiver, to host Roxy’s 10th birthday as a themed party to raise money and awareness for the plight of pitbulls. As Rossi pointed out, Hercules is just one example of how pitbulls become exactly what their owners want them to be. If their owners want these dogs to be fighters or lethal guard dogs, that’s what they’ll become. But, if their owners are kind and loving, pitbulls will reciprocate this affection tenfold.
Even though Shorty was the guest celebrity, the real stars of the evening were Hercules and Roxy (who wore a tutu). When these dog’s were in the room, everyone wanted to be near them, to take pictures with them, and to touch them. The raw animal charisma of pitbulls was apparent when they stole attention from the featured burlesque acts—at least until the performers from the Rock N Body studio had two dancers spinning around the pole, or the burlesque troupe Le Teaze began their side-by-side strip tease.

San Francisco Adult Entertainment: San Francisco is Just One Example of Corruption in Public Agencies

Jeff Adachi, the City Public Defender, noted that the average San Francisco employee’s annual pay is $93,000, with a third of city workers making $100,000 or more. So why do so many of those civil servants feel the need to augment their compensation? Let’s stick with people who have actually been charged with crimes.
Last year, sfgate reported on the Hetch Hetchy Power Crew, a remote reservoir that supplies the city with hydroelectric power. They evidently bilked the city out of hundreds of thousands of dollars for personal purchases, including BMW tires, lease payments on a truck, and even remodeling a luxury home. They also ran a private contracting business, collecting government paychecks while working on unauthorized jobs and billing the costs to taxpayers. They also hired prostitutes and stocked a bedroom in their office suite with liquor, condoms, Viagra and pornographic DVDs.

San Francisco Escorts: Planned foster youth home caught in the crossfire

In the Marina, where the wealthy meet the seedy, plans for a transitioning-foster-youths home are cause for concern. (Examiner file photo)
In the Marina district’s seedier stretch of Lombard Street between the Golden Gate Bridge and Van Ness Avenue, residents and businesses that have fought to clean up the area find themselves caught between two motels, one new and one old.
Lombard Street is better known for its flowered curvy section, but the high-traffic area near the bridge is populated by tourists and flanked by motel after motel.
It’s in this area where police have been fighting prostitutes, drug dealers and thieves who have frequented a few problem motels. The City Attorney’s Office sued the owners of the Bridge Motel for running a public nuisance. New owners have made improvements and police have announced a deal with the proprietors to stop taking in people who just got out of prison.

San Francisco Strip Clubs: Judge Hercules & Obama’s Ground Zero Mosque

The persons who live in a neighborhood have a larger say in its development than any other group. Further, in this case, those killed at the site, survivors and their families have an outsized vote on future developments given the nature of the tragedy, and the cemetery nature of the site.
Outsiders
Persons who were not established at the Ground Zero previous to the tragedy site might not get a preferred place at the table when it is rebuilt.
Zoning
Zoning is an appropriate means of creating the type of neighborhood the occupant’s desire. While the direct rules are of note, how they have been applied is also important.
Likely Impact
The overall impact of a particular ruling is of great interest to Judge Hercules. For example, if a strip club owner found a loophole in a town’s zoning ordinances allowing him to buy cheap land between a Catholic seminary and a preschool, Hercules would want to know the likely impact of such a site on the local community.

San Francisco Escorts: ‘Angel Island,’ by Erika Lee and Judy Yung

The station on Angel Island aimed to improve the conditions of detention during the process of examination, which determined the eligibility of the Chinese to enter. It was built to be spacious and sanitary, as well as isolated, the better to keep away kinfolk and friends who might coach the would-be immigrants to help them through their lengthy interrogations.
The station, designed by Oakland architect Walter J. Matthews, was similar to the one on Ellis Island and exemplified the ethos of government rationality of the Progressive Era – separate buildings for administration, detention and medical services. Despite boosters’ claims that it was like a “summer resort,” it remained a jail for Chinese and other Asians, who were detained for weeks, months, in some cases as long as a year.
One might assume that Europeans were treated better than Asians and Mexicans, and, in general, that was the case. But it was not a simple matter of white versus nonwhite. Women, regardless of nationality or race, were suspected of being prostitutes unless they were married and accompanied by their husbands.

OAKLAND, CA — A member of an Oakland-based armed robbery crew has been sentenced in federal court in Oakland to 13 years and three months in prison.
San Kwen Saephan, 29, was given the federal prison term by U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken on Wednesday.
Prosecutors said Saephen was part of a small group that committed three armed robberies at a massage parlor in San Rafael, a massage parlor in El Cerrito and a karaoke bar in Hayward over a nine-day period between Dec. 30, 2007, and Jan. 8, 2008.
Two other members of the group brandished guns and Saephan held a fake gun while threatening victims at the three businesses, according to prosecutors. Some of the victims were tied up and one woman’s collarbone was broken when Saephan and another man ripped her purse off her shoulder, prosecutors said.

OAKLAND — Authorities say a 29-year-old Oakland man who took part in a monthlong string of robberies has been sentenced to more than 13 years in prison.
U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken issued the sentence against San Kwen Saephan on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty in December to charges of interfering with commerce by robbery and extortion.
Authorities say Saephan was among a group of people who held up massage parlors in San Rafael and El Cerrito and a karaoke bar in Hayward starting in December 2007.
The group also allegedly tried to car jack the vehicle of a retired San Francisco sheriff’s deputy.
Four other people have pleaded guilty in connection with the robberies.
Authorities say a fifth member of the crew, 25-year-old Choung Van Nguyen, was fatally shot by Berkeley police in June following a chase.

San Francisco Escorts: State attorneys call for shut down of Craigslist adult services ads

State attorneys are once again pressuring Craigslist over prostitution, requesting that the San Francisco-based company immediately take down the adult services section of its websites.
Spurred in part by a CNN report (YouTube) in which a child advocate dubbed the ubiquitous classified ad website “the Wal-Mart of child sex trafficking,” the attorney generals of 17 states sent Craigslist an August 24 letter asking for “immediate action to end the misery for the women and children who may be exploited and victimized by these ads.”

Self-policing efforts by Craigslist have failed to reduce obvious ads for prostitution in the adult services section, the state attorneys state.

State attorney pressure against Craigslist is nothing new. Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, at the head of a 39-state coalition, subpoenaed the company in May for documents relating to “the craigslist brothel business ” (as he put it).

San Francisco Escorts: California’s Juvenile Justice System Ill-Equipped to Care for Girl Offenders

… Young women need different specialized care and support than young men.  Many young women have suffered from high levels of sexual and physical abuse and often need different medical care than boys. Some of these young women have children themselves and need to be in contact with them.  Every level of staff in the juvenile justice system needs to be sensitized to these differences.”
The Gender Responsiveness report summarizes data from national studies on girl offenders and their treatment in juvenile justice systems. Highlights include:
How girls enter the system: Research shows that far more girls (70%) than boys (47%) are referred to courts on prostitution charges. Studies have also shown that the nature of girls’ violence is more often relational and that girls are more likely to fight with a family member than boys.
