Here is a quick list off the top of my Googler of notable CDs, DVDs, and albums that were recorded in San Francisco:
1. Paul Mooney’s Race – 1993 (The San Francisco Punch Line)
2. Steve Martin’s Comedy Is Not Pretty – 1979, and Let’s Get Small – 1977 (both at The Boarding House in San Francisco)
3. Margaret Cho’s I’m The One That I Want (The Warfield — this reset the bar for the modern special.)
4. Lenny Bruce’s Live At The Curran Theater – 1961 (Apparently the actual show was — GULP! — THREE HOURS AND SEVEN MINUTES LONG!)
5. Mort Sahl at The Hungry i – 1960 (Yup, before it was a seedy strip club it was home to the best comedy the country has ever seen.)
Put on your parkas, slip on your snowshoes, it’s time for Opening Day in Major League Baseball. The defending champion San Francisco Giants visit the Dodgers in sunny Los Angeles on Thursday, while the other five games – in New York, Washington, St. Louis, Kansas City and Cincinnati – will be played in bone-chilling cold. COMMENTARY:
FBC–TIM DAHLBERG-033011
John Junker could have probably gotten away with the $30,000 spent by the Fiesta Bowl on his birthday party. No one questioned his $600,000 annual salary. But how do you explain $1,200 in BCS bowl money spent on visiting a strip club? By Sports Columnist Tim Dahlberg.

Bell said she went instead to San Diego, Houston and Miami. She recalled bitterly how Bonds told her to find her own way home from after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, when commercial airlines were shut down and Bonds was on the team charter.
“Barry abandoned me in Houston after 9-11,” she said.
Arguedas ran through a litany of financial benefits Bell received in “this position you had, as the girlfriend for road trips.” Bonds bought her several cars and paid the down payment for her house in North Scottsdale, Ariz. Arguedas repeatedly brought up forms Bell signed in which she said it would be her secondary home, trying to portray Bell as a liar.
Arguedas also quizzed Bell about an e-mail she sent to Bonds’ website in April 2004, almost a year after their breakup on May 23, 2003. Bell said she listed all the women she knew that Bonds was sleeping with: a model in New York, another woman in Las Vegas and “the stripper from Phoenix.”

What led you to become a massage therapist? My health. I had a really bad back and nothing was working. I went to chiropractors and nothing worked. I finally found a guy that did soft tissue and massage. That helped. I also worked with emotions and that kind of thing. I had to do it. Otherwise I would be just a mess. I would be hurting all the time and drinking all of the time and not having fun. So it was a necessity, really.
And then you decided you wanted to help other people? Yes. I’ve always wanted to help other people. Had a soft spot. But now, work is hard to get due to the economy.
What are some of the difficulties you’ve run into? Zoning laws, for one. I had a job, but Berkeley said the zoning was wrong so they shut the place down. One law is that you have to be one hundred feet away from the schools. They’re worried about the connotations of the place being a massage parlor, but the two things are completely different. People are panicking. It’s weird.
