A big hit in France, “On Tour” opened the Cannes Film Festival in May, when it won a best director prize for French film star Mathieu Amalric (”The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”) who also plays the seedy promoter for a troupe of American voluptuaries. The film, called “Tournee” in France, was nominated for seven César Awards and made celebrities of Ramsey, Craven and their real-life-stripper co-stars: tattooed Mimi Le Meaux, pink-haired Dirty Martini, saucy Julie Atlas Muz and elegant Evie Lovelle.
Kitten, 47, who plays ukulele, accordion and piano in her act – hence the stage name – was born in Walnut Creek and raised in Lafayette. She lives in the Sunset District with her boyfriend, Polkacide musician Ward Abronski.

Q: Do you and the other strippers play yourselves in the film?
Meanwhile, In Vallejo: Still Lots o’ Prostitutes
…
In an effort to help the penniless city and an underfunded police force to curb their hooker problem, concerned citizens like Loni Meyers have joined groups like Ohio Street Watchdogs. As Meyers tells CBS, “I patrol the neighborhood in my car. I take pictures of prostitutes and sometimes even videos.” Videos, Loni! Oh my. I hope you don’t show those to your kids. Anyway, the neighbors hope that their watchdogging will intimidate the prostitutes and make them go away.
But the hookers have to go somewhere now that SF couldn’t manage to make prostitution legal. And we still say that if Vallejo’s citizenry could just be a little more open-minded, they could turn the frown of all those big empty homes upside down with a few high-class brothels!

Clean-and-sober homes are the latest curse to strike San Rafael. If there was any question whether San Rafael had once again become a dumping ground for this latest phenomenon, listen up. An initial Internet search on both licensed and unlicensed group homes shows an initial count of 22 programs within the city limits. As with so many social fix programs in San Rafael, Gerstle Park seems to have a majority of these homes. In other Marin towns and cities, there appear to be only around 10 homes where clean-and-sober programs are being operated.
Many would ask why San Rafael, and why there are 22, and only 10 for the rest of Marin. As with so many things, central San Rafael is a magnet for them. San Rafael attracts homeless people who come to St. Vincent’s for food and the Ritter Center for assistance and support. Other programs have homeless beds that they offer to those on the street. San Rafael is a magnet for massage studios and prostitution. And now we find out that San Rafael is the dumping ground for clean-and-sober homes, which have permeated our neighborhoods and put neighborhood integrity at risk.
Earlier Mission Loc@l reported that a woman had been kidnapped at 18th and Lexington by two men and then escaped in Half Moon Bay. We have been calling San Mateo County and the SFPD for updates and clarification on the kidnapping.
At Tuesday’s community meeting at the Mission Police Station, Captain Greg Corrales offered this new piece of information.
“As far as the Sunday kidnapping, the victim got in a car with two men who drove to San Mateo and allegedly molested her and kicked her out there — it happened middle of the day. The victim had a history of drug use and there are lots of questions about her version of what occurred. It’s a vicious crime whether drug addict or prostitute, but not everything adds up yet.”
A woman who answered the phone for Caregivers of America on Tuesday would not confirm whether the businesses had reopened.
“Stop nagging us, stop leaving us messages,” she said before hanging up.
Romel Casab, a well-known businessman in the Metro area, is listed online as the owner of Caregivers of America. His home in Commerce Township was also raided.
“There’s nothing to represent him on; there’s no medical marijuana case involving Romel Casab,” said James Allen, an attorney who has represented Casab in other court cases.
Other locations raided include the Bayside Sports Grill in Walled Lake, the Coliseum Bar & Grill — a strip club in Detroit — and a home in Walled Lake. State records list John Semma as the owner of both businesses, though the name listed for the Coliseum is “Johni Semma.” Information online indicates Semma lives at the address raided in Walled Lake.
Life at the top is tough …; not. While the economy is struggling to regain footing, the good times have already returned for America’s CEOs (not known to suffer long or much). Examples: Lawrence J. Ellison, Oracle, $70.1 million; Ray Irani, Occidental Petroleum, $76.1 million; and Philippe P. Dauman, Viacom, $84.5 million (in just nine months). Fourth-quarter profits at American businesses were up an astounding 29.2 percent. (Still not up, obviously, is hiring.)
The Romanian Senate recently killed a bill that would have regulated — and taxed — fortune tellers and witches, even though the government is strapped for revenue. Although dissent came from predictable sources, one of the bill’s sponsors told the AP that defeat came primarily at the hands of lawmakers who feared that spells and curses might be placed on them. (Talk bout leverage.)
Edward Laporte, 42, was recently arrested in Newport Beach, Calif., after visiting the Golden Spa massage parlor and, claiming to be an “inspector,” getting a free …
San Francisco’s City Clinic turned 100 on Monday, marking a century of providing STD treatment to city residents.
The Municipal Clinic of San Francisco was founded in 1911 to address the “red plague” of syphilis among prostitutes, according to a Department of Public Health-commissioned history. But the clinic immediately became a target of conservatives, and it closed after just two years. It reopened in the 1920s as the Social Hygiene Clinic. By the 1950s, it became known as the City Clinic.
Public health officials credit the City Clinic for its work confronting an array of challenges, from 1967’s “Summer of Love” to the emergence of AIDS, crack cocaine, and crystal methamphetamine. San Francisco has long been recognized for providing non-judgmental prevention and treatment services, said Susan Philip, director of STD prevention and control for the health department. City Clinic, now located in a renovated firehouse on Seventh Street, charges $10 for STD treatment, but no one is turned away due to their inability to pay. The clinic’s clientele includes mostly teens, 20-somet …

Louie said Oakland police have responded quickly to incidents involving tenants of the residential hotels that ring the block. Neighborhood advocates are also working with Oakland police to lessen the prostitution, drug dealing and burglaries that persist in the neighborhood. They are making headway, said Sun-Kwong Sze, coordinator of the local Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council.

Owner Ali Hassan and his employees have established equilibrium with neighbors since the store opened 30 years ago. Back then, prostitutes and derelicts were the sole residents of the bleak and empty stretch in the shadow of City Hall. Now condo dwellers like Louie turn up looking for buttermilk and flour at the last minute for a Christmas morning breakfast. But their presence also led Hassan to remove a beer ad on the back of his market after complaints began to circulate and he found out it violated city laws.
