Bettie Heldring’s assertion (Feb. 18) that all the intelligence agencies said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction has proven to be false. Age does not make you more insightful, but paying attention does, which is something Heldring doesn’t do.
All these years, our government and its prostitutes in the press told us what a great democracy and U.S. ally Egypt was. Now that the Egyptians have had enough of our despot, our government and its press lackeys all of a sudden got religion and are talking about what a despot Hosni Mubarak is. We now have all these so-called journalists telling us about Egypt and what the people went through. Where were they for all these years? This is proof that our so-called free press is an instrument of the government.
