Pimping and pandering among charges 10 people face

HAYWARD — Ten people arrested last week on suspicion of running a three-county prostitution ring involving dozens of immigrant Asian women each have been charged with five felonies involving pimping and human trafficking.
One of those charged, Di Sun, attempted to slice her wrist with a thin razor blade before her court appearance Thursday, said Sgt. J.D. Nelson of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
“I don’t believe it was a sincere suicide attempt, but more likely an attempt not to face her day in court,” Nelson said. He added that Sun was taken to St. Rose Hospital in Hayward to treat her “superficial” injuries and then to John George Psychiatric Pavilion in San Leandro for a psychiatric evaluation.
