Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork is making it clear he’ll be unhappy if the New England uses the franchise tag to keep him. But surely he knows the reason Richard Seymour was traded to the Raiders was that one or the other had to go. Wilfork stayed, and the more he refers to being franchised as “a slap in the face,” the less likely he is to get a long-term deal.
Commissioner Roger Goodell has termed the Miami Pro Bowl experiment a “success” even though two of the AFC quarterbacks are David Garrard (Jaguars) and Vince Young (Titans). Neither made the playoffs, and they finished ninth and 10th in the conference, respectively, in passing effeciency.Philip Rivers (Chargers) and Tom Brady (Patriots) are “injured,” while Peyton Manning (Colts) is in the Super Bowl.
It’s doubtful Goodell will talk up the antics of Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie, who blew off the team picture and practices on consecutive days, tweeting one night he was headed out to a strip club.
