Party Like a Pinup at Roxy’s Gala was organized to support the charity programs, Pinups for Pit Bulls and Pit Stop Bully’s Rescue.  Roxy, the mascot for The Don Vicente De Ybor Historic Inn, inspired the hotel’s owner, Tessa Shiver, to host Roxy’s 10th birthday as a themed party to raise money and awareness for the plight of pitbulls. As Rossi pointed out, Hercules is just one example of how pitbulls become exactly what their owners want them to be. If their owners want these dogs to be fighters or lethal guard dogs, that’s what they’ll become. But, if their owners are kind and loving, pitbulls will reciprocate this affection tenfold.
Even though Shorty was the guest celebrity, the real stars of the evening were Hercules and Roxy (who wore a tutu). When these dog’s were in the room, everyone wanted to be near them, to take pictures with them, and to touch them. The raw animal charisma of pitbulls was apparent when they stole attention from the featured burlesque acts—at least until the performers from the Rock N Body studio had two dancers spinning around the pole, or the burlesque troupe Le Teaze began their side-by-side strip tease.
